We are associated with the Homestead / Florida City Chamber of Commerce and; we are a founding partner with Visit Florida. Thirty volunteers help to provide directions to attractions, hotels and restaurants throughout the South Florida area. With our primary focus on South Miami-Dade County to include Homestead and Florida City we also provide information on the Florida Keys and Key West, as well as, attractions to our north to include the Seminole museum and swamp safari.

As you will see from our website, we promote an environmental and family-oriented area with a rich history of agriculture. Truly, beauty is highlighted in the two national parks that find their home in South Miami-Dade County: Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park. By boat or by trail, these national parks provide incredible sunset vistas. Wildlife abounds in the form of alligators, panthers and Manatee. Many come here to fish, kayak, or take a glass bottom boat ride over our magnificent reef. Some even come to swim with a dolphin. Given our weather, birders and bicycle riders are drawn here year around.

When it comes to flora and fauna, South Miami-Dade County is unique. Rare plants can be identified at some of the attractions we have listed here. South Miami-Dade County is also now home to the southernmost winery in the United States. Our Redland agricultural area is renown for producing great varieties of fruit. Some of which: Guava, Lychee, Passion Fruit, Mango, & Carambola have been made into wine. Whether you come to pick tomatoes or strawberries or to see world-class orchids on display, the rich tradition of South Miami-Dade County growers will amaze. Did you ever wonder where the “Boston” fern actually comes from?

With our weather being the gem that it is year around, golf, tennis, and fishing always provide fun activities. Our Homestead-Miami Speedway may surprise drawing hundreds of thousands of fans each year to numerous events to include the NASCAR championship in November. For those who want to keep it in the fast lane, the temptation of state of the art go-cart racing, sky diving, scuba diving, parasailing, and, the effortless glide of an airboat ride all provide fuel for the imagination.

When it comes to history and wildlife, both are combined into one of Florida’s oldest attractions... The Monkey Jungle. There is also a Castle made from Coral. A visitor to our area might enjoy the aviary of a world-class zoo or step into a smaller Outpost for abused animals. History is recounted at museums dedicated to Town Halls and Pioneers. One might even visit the shops of an historic village square named after Cauley.

The Tropical Everglades Visitor Association’s visitor center helps over 60,000 travelers a year. Please take the time to look at the maps provided and to also visit the businesses that make our South Florida area so special.
